As a Waikiki resident, I know the battle of driving the Kwinana Freeway in peak hour traffic.
Our $700 million project to widen and upgrade the Kwinana Freeway will address key pinch points and is jointly funded by the WA and Commonwealth governments.
The planned upgrades between Roe Highway and Safety Bay Road will ease pressures by delivering:
- A new lane in each direction between Russell Road and Mortimer Road.
- A new southbound lane between Roe Highway and Berrigan Drive.
- A new northbound lane from Russel Road to Beeliar Drive.
- Coordinated ramp signals on northbound on-ramps between Safety Bay Road and Roe Highway to smooth the flow of traffic on the freeway at busy times.
This project is going through the procurement process, with construction expected to begin in early 2027 and be completed in 2029.
