Today, the Cook Labor Government announced that it will provide $231,000 in funding to provide necessary upgrades to the intersection of Read Street and Malibu Road as part of its Black Spot Program.
I caught up with local traffic wardens Conrad and Jan who provide an essential service in helping our kids cross the road safely to get to Safety Bay Senior High School. Our local community has been asking for these upgrades, and now we are delivering them.
I drive through this intersection every day to get to work and I'm glad that the Cook Labor Government is providing this essential funding to improve the safety of our community.
Additionally, Rockingham will get $2 million from the Cook Labor Government to make necessary upgrades to the Ennis Ave - Dixon Rd intersection.
These upgrades will improve safety conditions for drivers and assist will easing traffic by extending and adding both slip and acceleration lanes.
If you drive through this intersection during the peak hour traffic, you know how critical these upgrades are.
I met with Deb Hamblin Mayor City of Rockingham to discuss the investments that Rockingham will be getting to make the roads safer for our community.
Rockingham will receive a total of $2.23 million of the total $19 million spent from the State Black Spot Program to improve road safety conditions around Australia. This is a win for Rockingham!
